Bus, Meals & Childcare

St. Joseph’s has teamed up with Sherpa Kids to provide childcare on the school grounds, Monday to Friday:

• Before school care: 7:30am to 9:00am

• After school care: 1:50pm to 6:00pm

• Holiday care: 9:00am to 5:00pm during school holidays

Children stay with their friends in familiar surroundings, with no pick-up or drop-off to worry about during the working day. Sherpa Kids is open 48 weeks of the year, closing for two weeks at Christmas and two weeks in August.

All pupils are entitled to a hot meal at school. Our meals are provided by The Lunch Bag: fresh food is delivered to the school every day, heated in school, and served to each class by lunchtime.

School transport is provided through the School Transport Scheme, run by Bus Éireann. Applications and payments are made on the Bus Éireann school transport portal.

You need to apply if your child is new to the scheme, starting Junior Infants, or changing school or address. Pupils who have arrived in Ireland from other countries also need to apply.

Families who have applied before don’t need to reapply unless their details have changed, but they must log in each year to pay or to enter medical card details. School transport is free for eligible families with a medical card who apply and enter their details by the closing date.

The closing date is set each year (for 2026/27 it was 8 May), and we share a reminder before it.
